"Greenberg Traurig’s recent growth and expansion in Chicago continues to offer highly successful lawyers and clients access to a truly national and international platform in which to practice," said Paul T. Fox, co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Chicago office. "We are pleased to add lawyers of the caliber of Jim and Kevin to the firm’s outstanding national litigation team."

Richmond focuses his practice on a variety of compliance and enforcement issues, including financial fraud, healthcare fraud, issues in the gaming industry and white-collar criminal matters. He is a former United States attorney for the Northern District of Indiana and was a special agent for the FBI and for the criminal investigation division of the IRS. As an assistant United States attorney, Richmond successfully tried the first Medicare fraud case ever prosecuted and secured the conviction of a former C.I.A. employee for committing espionage against the United States. Richmond served as the first special counsel for Financial Institution Fraud to then-Deputy Attorney General William P. Barr and oversaw the prosecution for the failures of the 100 largest savings-and-loans institutions. He also mediated issues related to parallel criminal, civil and administrative actions between the Justice Department and regulators on four of the largest thrift failures. He edited the revision of the U.S. Attorney’s Manual, chaired the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee for two terms and served on the National Economic Crime Council.

In private practice, Richmond has represented a senior FBI official in connection with the Ruby Ridge incident. He served as minority counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee representing Republican members of the U.S. Senate in the "October Surprise Hearings." For three years, Richmond held the position of General Counsel of a billion dollar healthcare corporation. In addition, he has conducted over 200 internal investigations for a Fortune 50 corporation. Recently, Richmond represented a different Fortune 50 corporation in a far-reaching criminal investigation conducted by the Department of Justice and continues to represent corporations and individuals in various types of criminal investigations.

Richmond holds a law degree and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the Board of Visitors of the Indiana University School of Law.

Finger focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, corporate compliance, and white-collar criminal matters. He has represented large corporations and employees in a number of government investigations and creates and implements corporate compliance programs. Before joining his previous firm, Finger served as an assistant state attorney in Cook County in the financial crimes and governmental fraud unit, where he conducted more than 50 grand-jury investigations and handled numerous jury and bench trials.

Finger holds a law degree from Loyola University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

The addition of Richmond and Finger brings the number of lawyers practicing in Greenberg Traurig’s Chicago office to 47. "We continue to focus on cherry-picking stars from outstanding local and regional firms who will benefit from the depth of services we offer clients in 18 business centers around the country," noted Chicago co-managing shareholder Keith J. Shapiro. "Jim and Kevin have a national practice that we expect will expand dramatically as part of Greenberg Traurig."
