Greenberg Traurig's Los Angeles Office Adds Experienced Trademark Attorney to Growing Intellectual Property Practice

Elise Tenen-Aoki is sixth IP lateral to join firm in past three months

LOS ANGELES, CA -- August 27, 2002 -- Elise Tenen-Aoki has joined the Los Angeles office of Greenberg Traurig LLP where she will be a member of its rapidly expanding intellectual property practice headed by patent authorities, Charles Berman and Christopher Darrow. Tenen-Aoki brings extensive experience in a broad range of trademark and copyright matters on a national and global level, thus adding to the firm’s well-established national intellectual property group, which is one of the largest in the U.S.

“Trademarks are a vital element of any business from entertainment to apparel, and the development and protection of a company’s trademarks are critical to ensuring the value and integrity of the products and services they offer,” said Richard Davis, managing partner of Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles office. “Elise’s extensive experience in national and international trademark and copyright matters will add substantially to the depth and breadth of the firm’s dynamic West Coast IP and entertainment practices.”

Tenen-Aoki is skilled in helping companies to develop global strategies to register, use and protect their trademark portfolios, and in negotiating licensing and merchandising agreements for these valuable assets. She has a solid background in the entertainment industry having served as intellectual property counsel for a major entertainment company where she was responsible for overseeing a portfolio of more than 25,000 trademarks. Adept at maintaining a balance between a company’s business and marketing objectives and the need to create a strong enforceable trademark portfolio, she also provides guidance to corporate executives in the apparel, consumer product, pharmaceutical and restaurant industries on the proper use of marks. Early in her career, Tenen-Aoki was an examining attorney at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Washington D.C. Most recently, she was a partner at Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly.

Tenen-Aoki obtained her bachelor’s degree cum laude from Tufts University and her J.D. from American University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in California, District of Columbia and Maryland and is a member of the International Trademark Association.
