Greenberg Traurig LLP Further Strengthens its International Trade Practice

Robert Stang and Michelle Salem join practice area

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- April 22, 2003 -- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP announced today that Robert Stang and Michelle Salem have joined the firm’s international trade practice. Over the past two months, Greenberg Traurig has added six new members to its international trade practice.

Robert Stang specializes in international trade and customs law and joins Greenberg Traurig’s DC office as Of Counsel. With more than 20 years of experience, he has counseled U.S. and foreign clients on all aspects of import and U.S. Customs compliance matters, duty savings strategies and customs reviews, and possesses expertise in a wide range of products including apparel and footwear, heavy machinery, automobile parts, power plant systems and electronic goods. Robert most recently served as a Senior Manager in New York with KPMG LLP’s trade and customs practice. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and is a member of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has a JD from George Washington University, an MPA from Columbia University and a BA from the Pennsylvania State University.

Michelle Salem specializes in customs regulations and law, and has more than 13 years of experience in the area. She assists companies in preparing for customs audits and internal compliance reviews, develops duty savings strategies such as first sales pricing, and the restructuring of import/export operations. She has extensive experience in duty preference programs such as CBTPA and NAFTA. Salem joins Greenberg Traurig as Director with the International Trade and Customs group. Formerly, she served as President of the Customs Financial Compliance for the firm, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg. Salem is a founding member of the Miami chapter of Women in International Trade and served Treasurer for three years. She has a BA in Accounting from Florida International University.
