Intellectual Property Practice at Greenberg Traurig Attracts Highly
Regarded Counselor
COSTA MESA, CA -- August 11, 2005 --
Bradley D. Blanche, a highly regarded
intellectual property counselor, has joined the international law firm of
Greenberg Traurig LLP as Of Counsel in the expanding Intellectual Property
practice group of its Orange County office. Blanche brings to the firm broad
technical proficiency with over ten years of experience in counseling clients
in all aspects of patent and trademark matters.
Blanche’s extensive background in intellectual property law makes him
an important addition to Greenberg Traurig. In addition to strategic counseling
on intellectual property portfolio development and protection, he has extensive
experience in the areas of patent and trademark preparation and prosecution,
validity and infringement opinion drafting, licensing and litigation. His
clients have included corporations and individuals involved in a variety
of technologies including semiconductors, computer software, computer networking,
microprocessors, wireless communications, optics, discharge lamps, medical
devices and mechanical arts.
“Brad’s broad experience in all aspects of IP counseling and litigation,
combined with his strong technical background, positions us to provide superior
results to our clients, especially our high-tech clients,” says
Gordon Schaller,
Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig Orange County. “Brad will prove
to be an invaluable resource for our highly regarded intellectual property
practice group.”
Blanche was formerly Of Counsel in the Litigation Department at Paul,
Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP, where he represented clients in high stakes
patent and trademark litigation in addition to counseling clients on ways
to build strategic patent portfolios that protect their core technology.
Greenberg Traurig Orange County’s growing IP practice was also recently
joined by Franklin D. Ubell, also formerly at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky &
Walker.
Among the clients he has represented are Dell, Huawei-3Com Technologies
Co., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Panasonic), Ushio America, Inc.,
Unisys, and Linksys Group. Blanche’s service as in-house patent counsel
for Conexant Systems, Inc. further broadened his legal perspective.
Blanche has developed considerable knowledge with respect to litigation
of patents asserted to cover various industry standards such as IEEE computer
networking standards.
Capitalizing on his extensive experience, Blanche traveled to China to
advise companies on various aspects of U.S. intellectual property law. Having
recently completed the tour, where he stayed primarily in Beijing and Hang
Zhou, Blanche proved his capacity to counsel across geographic boundaries
and is a strong addition to Greenberg Traurig’s international operations.
Blanche earned his J.D. from George Washington National Law Center in
Washington D.C., with an emphasis on intellectual property law. While attending
law school, Blanche became a registered patent agent and worked for an IP
