PHOENIX, AZ -- December 15, 2005 -- Jeffrey H. Verbin, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Phoenix office, is pleased to announce that shareholder Rebecca L. Burnham, a prominent real estate attorney who recently made the move to Greenberg Traurig after seven years of independent practice with fellow lawyer Lesa Storey, has long been involved in significant issues affecting Arizona. She was recently recognized for her role in the re-election campaign of George W. Bush and served on the search committee that chose Michael Crow to lead Arizona State University. Burnham also served as the Program Chair for the ASU Foundation’s Women & Philanthropy program in 2004-2005, and will be Chairman for the 2005-2006 term.

“The Foundation will play a key role in helping A.S.U. to become the New American University, as envisioned by President Crow. As the granddaughter of a member of the first graduating class of Arizona State Teacher’s College (now A.S.U.), I am pleased and honored to be asked to help in that effort,” states Burnham.

As one of the state’s oldest 501(c)(3) organizations, the ASU Foundation was incorporated in 1955 by a group of Valley farmers, bankers, business owners and ranchers who understood that you cannot build a great city without building a great university to sustain and support it. Today the Foundation’s mission is to raise, invest and manage private gifts to benefit ASU on all campuses.

The ASU Foundation is governed by a board of directors who provide financial support, knowledge and expertise to the foundation and university. The board’s role includes fundraising, asset management, technology commercialization, real estate services, donor relations and stewardship as well as public advocacy. In addition, members of the executive committee of the Board serve as advisory “trustees” to the ASU president. For more information visit: www.asufoundation.org.
