Former Bush Official Joins Greenberg Traurig
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- January 6, 2005 -- In a major addition to the Federal
Marketing team of its Governmental Affairs practice, Greenberg Traurig LLP
announced today that former General Services Administration Chief of Staff,
Karl H. Reichelt, has joined the firm as a Director in its Washington, D.C.
office. Reichelt and fellow Director
Bethany Noble will lead the Federal
Marketing team that Noble helped found and has led since May 2004.
“Everybody in town wanted Karl. We are delighted he chose Greenberg Traurig,”
said Fred Baggett, Chairman of the firm’s National Governmental Affairs
practice group. “Karl is a hands-on professional who has overseen billions
of dollars in transactions and is a great addition to our growing Federal
Marketing team. His addition, in turn, will strengthen our national Governmental
Affairs practice.”
“Greenberg Traurig caught my eye early on as an exceptional firm and
I was drawn further by the commitment of its leaders to the Federal Marketing
team and the great potential we have to grow business by delivering winning
results to our clients. By working closely with other Governmental Affairs
professionals as well as the strong Government Contracts practice, we can
further provide seamless representation to new and existing clients,” said
Reichelt.
Greenberg Traurig’s Federal Marketing team helps private sector innovators
compete in the federal marketplace by bridging the gap between the government
and the private sector. Federal Marketing clients range from major defense
firms, multinational corporations to new and emerging technology startups.
Reichelt joins Greenberg Traurig following a 13-year public service career
that included three gubernatorial and three presidential appointments to
senior government positions. Until December 2004, Reichelt served as GSA’s
Chief of Staff – the agency’s number three senior executive and number two
political official. Reichelt held a dual appointment as GSA’s first Chief
Acquisition Officer, with responsibility for developing, implementing and
enforcing government-wide acquisition policies and assuring best value,
integrity and competition in the multi-billion dollar government acquisition
market. Previously, Reichelt headed GSA operations in the Northeast & Caribbean
Region as Regional Administrator. Prior to joining the Bush Administration,
Reichelt held senior appointed positions under Governor George E. Pataki,
including a five-month tour helping to coordinate relief efforts to World
Trade Center disaster victims. A native New Yorker, Reichelt and his family
reside in Alexandria, VA.
