Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Heather Meeker Recognized as a
2006 Woman of Distinction

Female Attorneys
EAST PALO ALTO, CA-- May 16, 2006 --
Heather Meeker, a shareholder
in the Silicon Valley office of the international law firm Greenberg
Traurig, LLP, has been selected as a 2006 Woman of Distinction Honoree
by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. Meeker was
chosen along with only three other female attorneys in the region
to receive this distinction in the law category.

business community and selected based on criteria such as the title

Meeker focuses her practice on intellectual property transactions
for technology clients in a variety of industries, including software,
communications, educational testing, computer equipment and medical
devices. She is one of the leading experts in the field of open
source software licensing and has advised a variety of companies
on the intricacies of open source licensing.
An accomplished author and speaker, she has written many scholarly
and practice-oriented articles and is a frequent lecturer on technology
licensing topics. Meeker’s publications include A Primer on Intellectual
Property Licensing, a text book now in its second edition. For
the past eight years, Meeker has served as an adjunct professor
of law at the University of California Hastings College Of Law,
where she teaches a seminar in technology licensing.
Professionally active, Meeker is co-chair of the Open Source
Software Committee of the ABA Section of Science and Technology
Law, an advisory board member of Open Bar, and a member of both
the American Law Institute and the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil
Rights. She also serves as pro bono counsel for the Mozilla
Foundation, which she assisted with legal matters relating to the
Firefox 1.0 and 1.5 releases. In 2005, Meeker was named one of the
top intellectual property lawyers in California by the Daily
Journal and a Northern California Super Lawyer by Key Professional
Media, Inc.
Meeker earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley,
Boalt Hall School of Law (1994), where she was editor-in-chief of
the High Technology Law Journal and elected to Order of the
Coif. She earned her B.A., magma cum laude, in economics
from Yale University (1979).
