Five Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Recognized as Valley Legal Leaders

PHOENIX, AZ -- February 20, 2006 -- Jeffrey H. Verbin, managing shareholder of the largest international law firm with offices in Arizona, Greenberg Traurig, LLP, is pleased to announce that shareholder Rebecca Burnham has been named one of only 10 Valley attorneys recognized by The Phoenix Business Journal as a “Leading Lawyer” in the publication’s annual program aimed at recognizing lawyers for their contributions to the legal industry and community.

Renowned for excellence in real estate law, Burnham recently made the move to Greenberg Traurig after seven years of independent practice with fellow lawyer Lesa Storey. Burnham, who was most recently recognized for her role in the re-election campaign of George W. Bush and serving on the search committee that chose Michael Crow to lead Arizona State University, has long been involved in key issues in Arizona. She was tapped by the Greater Phoenix Chamber and other key community groups to analyze the potential economic impact of the Citizens Growth Management Initiative in 2001 and has played a significant role in attempting to resolve trust land disputes.

A Phoenix resident, Burnham has called Arizona home since the 1970s and has taken an active role in many aspects of the state’s development. She received her undergraduate degree at ASU and is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law. Burnham serves on the Board of the Crisis Nursery Foundation and the Advisory Board of the ASU Foundation, and acts as Program Chairman for the ASU Foundation Women & Philanthropy program.

The same program honored an additional 25 local lawyers in a “Who’s Who” section, which included four from Greenberg Traurig: Benjamin Aguilera, corporate, international and securities law; Larry Rosenfeld, labor and employment law; Jeffrey Verbin, real estate, finance, commercial and consumer lending; and Jeffrey Wolf, franchise law.

”It’s a great honor, for both the firm and the individual attorneys, to be recognized in our own community,” states Verbin. “Our attorneys understand that, aside from providing exceptional legal services, being involved in the community is a very important part of the firm’s culture.”

About Leading Lawyers

Leading Lawyers is the latest effort by The Phoenix Business Journal to recognize and profile leading attorneys in the local business market. Applicants were required to submit a resume, letters of recommendation, and answer a brief questionnaire which was evaluated by a panel of judges based on their contributions to the legal industry and community. Those selected were profiled in the January 20, 2006 issue of the weekly newspaper.
