LOS ANGELES, CA-- April 10, 2006 --
James O. Thoma,
a highly respected corporate media attorney, has joined Greenberg
Traurig LLP’s as a shareholder in its corporate practice. Recognized
as a leader in Article 9 foreclosures on intellectual property and
with an active international sponsorship practice (including Olympic
related sponsorships), Thoma has more than 15 years of experience
in commercial transactions, security interests and asset securitizations
as well as financings for motion pictures, television programming
and computer/electronic games. His clients include multi-national
corporations (with a particular focus on European and Korean companies),
domestic and foreign lending institutions, motion picture and television
producers and distributors, and software companies for electronic
games. Thoma was the partner-in-charge of the 2002 Winter Olympic
Games in Salt Lake City.

Thoma previously was a partner in Akin Gump, and a member of
its corporate practice as well as the entertainment and media sub-group.
Prior to Akin Gump, he was a partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp
in Los Angeles.
Skilled in security interests in intellectual property and related
areas, including conducting foreclosures on copyrights, trademarks
and patents, he completed a groundbreaking securitization and loan
for a borrower based on an eight-figure corporate United States
tax refund in 2005.
Thoma has lectured extensively in Europe on the topic of entertainment
financing, and has authored articles about Article 9 foreclosures,
financing software development and distribution.
He received his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from
the University of Texas when he also obtained his J.D.
