INS Announces Fee Increases Effective February 19

In today’s Federal Register, INS announced that fees for more than 32 applications and petitions will increase next month. The fee increases reflected increased costs of processing the applications at the INS and are regularly reviewed. All affected applications postmarked or filed on or after February 19 will require the increased fee. Among other increases, the fee for a petition to employ a temporary worker (I-129) has increased to $130; an immigrant petition for alien worker will now be $135, and an application for adjustment of status, currently $220 for an adult, will be increased to $255. While most of the fee increases are modest, the fingerprinting fee has been increased to $50—double its current rate, reflecting the actual cost of processing fingerprints.
