More on Employment Authorization for E and L Spouses

The Vermont Service Center has indicated that they will accept the following work authorization applications in connection with the law recently signed by President Bush allowing work authorization for the spouses of E-1, E-2 and L-1 nonimmigrants:

  1. L-1 spouses within its jurisdiction.
  2. E-1 and E-2 spouses within its jurisdiction. These applications must be filed independent of the principal E-1 and E-2 applications.

The Texas Service Center will process the applications for those individuals under the jurisdiction of the Vermont Service Center who file the E-1 and E-2 principal applications at the same time as the work authorizations for the spouse.

While the Vermont Service Center has indicated its individual policy on this issue, the INS headquarters has not yet confirmed this information.
