President Bush Adds to Homeland Security Personnel

In a move to fill out key Homeland Security personnel, President Bush will designate Eduardo Aguirre, Jr. to be the Acting Director of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services at the Department of Homeland Security. The announcement was made on February 6, 2003 in a White House press release. The Bureau will take over most of the immigration benefit-related activity when the INS ceases to exist on March 5. The press release states that Mr. Aguirre is currently the Vice Chairman and First Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and was with Bank of America for 24 years. According to the statement, Mr. Aguirre was named "One of the 100 most Influential Hispanics in the Nation" by Hispanic Business Magazine for three consecutive years.
