Termination of Acceptance of Naturalization Application (N-400) Versions Prior to May 31, 2001

Starting on March 31, 2003, the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) will accept naturalization applications on forms N-400 that are editions dated May 31, 2001 or later, only. In other words, any naturalization applications filed after March 31, 2003 must be on an N-400 version dated May 31, 2001 or later, or the BCIS will reject it as unacceptable for filing. The changes made to the N-400 in the revised editions include recent legislative changes, clarify the information required from applicants, eliminate obsolete questions, and update the data collection process.
