Interview Delays at American Consulate in Chenai

On June 23, 2003, the American Consulate in Chennai released a statement indicating there is a substantial delay in scheduling personal interviews for visa applications at the consulate. The consulate is currently scheduling interviews for the end of September. Applicants who are in genuine need of visas on an urgent basis may apply at the Delhi and Calcutta consulates; however the applicant must justify the urgency of the visa in order to be accepted. Any clients who wish to travel back to India who do not have a valid visa should consult with their attorney. GTLaw will provide further updates as they become available.
