Update on Visa Revalidations

We reported yesterday on our website that the Department of State will cease processing visa revalidations as of July 6, 2004. It was announced today by the American Immigration Lawyers Association that the DOS has informed them it has changed the cut-off date to July 16, 2004, but that an exception will be made for applications pending at that point for which additional information has been requested under INA Section 221(g). Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Catherine Barry stated that DOS has no current plans to revive the revalidation service.

Regulations are expected within the next 10 days. Greenberg Traurig will provides updates as they become available.
