REMINDER: Special Registration

Even though the 30-day and annual registration and interview requirements for aliens who are subject to NSEERS (National Security Entry-Exit Registration System) have been suspended, such aliens may still be notified of future registration requirements.

In addition, all Special Registrants who were specially registered at either Call-In or Port of Entry into the U.S. continue to be subject to the departure registration by complying with the special departure processing, involving an appearance before a designated Customs and Border Protection Officer and turning in the I-94 Departure Record. Please note, being processed by an airline personnel does not satisfy this departure registration requirement. Other continuous compliance required of these Special Registrants, and most nonimmigrants who remain in the U.S. for 30 days or more, include notifying the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) of any change of primary address/residence, employment or educational institution in the U.S., within 10 days of the change, on Form AR-11SR and Form AR-11, respectively. Special Registration at the Port-of-Entry into the U.S. continues for nonimmigrants who are citizens or nationals of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya and Sudan, whereas nonimmigrants of other nationals may be designated for Special Registration on a case-by-case basis.
