DHS to Begin Testing of Electronic Passports
In an effort to beef up security measures at U.S. ports of entry, the
Department of Homeland Security has announced that, in collaboration with
Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, the United States has started testing
e-Passport technology. e-Passports, which contain contactless chips with
biographic and biometric information and readers that are capable of reading
e-Passports, will be tested from January 15, 2006 through April 15, 2006
at Terminal G at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
Greenberg Traurig will provide updates on any future implementation of
similar programs as they become available.
