10,000 Participate in Employment Verification Program
USCIS has issued a Fact Sheet and News Release regarding The Basic Pilot Employment
Verification Program which is being conducted by both the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). This tool gives employers
access to the DHS and SSA databases through an internet-based system so they may
run employment authorization checks. DHS confirms that 10,000 employers are currently
using the system and interested employers may
register
online.
If your company is not already a part of this program, consultation with immigration
and employment counsel is recommended prior to registering for the program as the
program, while helpful has its own internal discrepancies.
