Proposed Rule for Green Card Replacement

If you were issued a "Green Card" (Form I-551) between the years 1979 and 1989, you may soon be required to replace your card through filing an I-90 Application with the USCIS. USCIS has published a proposed rule that would provide a 120 day period within which anyone who was issued a Green Card during this time period would be required to apply for a replacement. The primary reason behind the proposed rule is for the individual to be in possession of a more security-enhanced card with an expiration date. The public may submit comments regarding this proposed rule by visiting www.regulations.gov through September 21, 2007. For more information regarding this proposed rule please visit www.usis.gov. GT Law will also provide updates as they become available.
