Dream Act Fails in Senate

On October 24, 2007, the Senate failed to get the necessary votes to proceed to on the Dream Act (S. 2205). Children not born in the U.S. are dependent on their parents' immigration status. Many children not born in the U.S. come here at a very young age and consider America their home. Due to a lack of legal status, many of these children are unable to pursue a college degree program. The Dream Act would have provided a pathway for legal permanent resident status and the ability to complete a college degree program.
