Greece Becomes Participant in Visa Waiver Program

Effective Monday, April 5, 2010, Greece became a member nation of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).  Under the designation, citizens and nationals of Greece will be eligible to travel to the United States for up to 90 days without a visa.  Announcement of Greece’s designation for the VWP was made on March 9, 2010 by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.  The accompanying press release called Greece’s membership in the program “a major step forward in the continued and log-standing economic partnership between the United States and Greece reflecting more than two years of coordination between the two countries”.  Greece will be the thirty-sixth country participating in the Visa Waiver Program.  Other countries in the program include Australia, France, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Additional information on Greece’s designation for the Visa Waiver Program and the full Department of Homeland Security Press Release can be found here and here.
