U.S. Department of State Limits H-1B, L-1 and TN Visa Validity for Mexican Nationals

Mexican nationals and those employing them in TN, L-1 and H-1B visas should take note that visas are now limited to 12 months according to the new reciprocity scale (as well as TD, H-4 and L-2 dependent visas). This means that even though an H-1B or L-1 petition may be approved for three years, the Mexican beneficiary may obtain a visa that is only valid for one year. This is significant for Mexican employees who travel frequently as this new rule will require employees to apply for visas more frequently.
