USCIS Issues Q&A on New H-1B and L-1 Fee Increase (P.L. 111-230)

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) provided additional information about the H-1B and L-1 fee increase of Public Law 111-230, which went into effect on August 13, 2010. The new fee applies to employers with 50 or more employees in the U.S. with more than 50 percent of their U.S. employees in H-1B or L-1 status. The additional fees for H-1B and L-1 petitions subject to the increase are $2,000 and $2,250, respectively. USCIS is currently revising the I-129 forms, but until then, USCIS recommends that all H-1B and L petitioners include the additional fee or a statement or other evidence demonstrating why the fee does not apply. For more information, please review the USCIS Q&A here.
