E-Verify Updates Photo Tool to Include U.S. Passport Photo Matching
U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on October 10, 2010 that E-Verify’s
photo-matching tool has been expanded to include U.S. passport
photographs. The photo-matching tool aids users in verifying the
authenticity of presented documents by allowing them to compare the
photograph in the document to the photograph that appears in the
E-Verify system.
Since 2007, E-Verify
has provided photo-matching capabilities for permanent resident cards
and employment authorization documents issued by USCIS. This upgrade to
the photo-matching system is the latest in a serious of anti-fraud
enhancements intended to improve the efficiency and veracity of the
E-Verify system. Please read our recent
GT Alert for more information on these enhancements.
The press release
announcing the addition of U.S. passports to the photo tool is available
on the
USCIS website.
