USCIS and Mississippi Partner to Combat Fraud

On June 13, 2011, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the launching of a new program that will enable Mississippi employers to authenticate driver’s licenses presented by employees in the I-9 process.  The program, called "Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify," or "RIDE," enables USCIS's E-Verify program to validate the authenticity of Mississippi driver's licenses by checking them against state records when determining the employee’s eligibility to work in the United States.  RIDE prioritizes the protection of employees' personal data by notifying employers who check Mississippi driver's licenses through E-Verify of the case result only (e.g., "Employment Authorized," or "Tentative Nonconfirmation"). Mississippi is the first state to partner with USCIS on  the RIDE program.

For more information on RIDE, visit the USCIS website.
