On February 22, 2012, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services launched their Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIR) initiative with an Information Summit focused on ensuring that the immigration pathways for foreign entrepreneurs are clear, consistent, and better reflect today’s business realities. The purpose of this initiative is to harness industry expertise from public and private sectors with the goal of increasing the job creation potential of both employment-based and high-skilled visa categories.
