Arkansas Man Sentenced in Illegal Hiring Case

On September 26, 2012, U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that the owner of a staffing and labor contracting company in Arkansas which employed undocumented individuals in Arkansas, Mississippi and Kentucky after providing them with false employment authorization and Social Security cards, was sentenced in federal court to thirty months in federal prison based on his May 10, 2012 guilty plea to the count of “harboring and shielding illegal aliens for financial gain.” He was also ordered to pay $10,000 in fines and will have to submit to two years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.

The investigation, which began in November of 2008, was conducted by federal, state and local law enforcement authorities, including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, who were able to recover approximately $117,000 of the estimated $6.4 million in profits that the individual obtained in connection with the scheme.
