Two CA Residents Charged in Document Mill Case
On December 14, 2012, two individuals were arraigned in a California federal court on charges of “conspiring to produce and sell false identification documents,” while one of the defendants was also charged with “being a deported alien found in the United States.” The twelve-count indictment stemmed from an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which alleges that between November and December 2012, the defendants operated a fraudulent document mill out of a residence in Madera, California, where customers would provide photographs and biographical information which the defendants would then use to make Permanent Resident or “green cards” as well as Social Security cards.
