New Visa Waiver Countries Added
On October 17, 2008, President Bush announced that
the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania,
Slovakia, and South Korea have met the requirements for admittance
into the United States Visa Waiver Program. In about a month,
citizens of these nations will gain the privilege to be able to
travel to the United States for business or tourism without a visa.
These nations have agreed to share information about threats, use
tamper-proof biometric passports, and register with
Electronic System
for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before traveling.
